Public Support Test
The Gallbladder Cancer Foundation is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) public charity. In order to maintain our status as a 501(c)(3) public charity the organization needs to meet the public support test. The IRS public support test states that at least 1/3 (33.3%) of donations must be given by donors who give less than 2% of the nonprofit’s overall receipts.
This test is calculated over a cumulative 5 year period. Additionally, new public charities are not required to demonstrate public support until year 6.
